Martel needed money for a cavalry. The order was the Kings,lords, knights, and finally serfs.The order started with the most powerful and the most important one at the top of the system and the least important one with no power at the bottom.The feudalism was the way the middle ages government organized the people . it started because there was not enough people to work the land. They also were being attacked and so they needed protection which the, knights had to do,protect the people. One other reason was because Charles needed money.
